In 2018, I took my first steps into the world of running, all to support a cherished friend. She had a cause close to her heart and a determination to make a difference through running and wanted to run the Disney Princess half marathon for the first time. I had never ran more than a 5k during this time, but I eagerly volunteered to join her on the journey, not knowing how this simple act of encouragement would shape my life.
As race day got closer, my friend became ill, and wasn’t able to attend. I still went anyways, and the initial intent of being there for my friend quickly transformed into a genuine love for running. The rhythmic beat of my feet against the ground became a soothing melody, a tune that resonated with the joy of movement and self-discovery. From 5ks to half marathons have now turned into world major marathons (which I never thought I’d be crazy enough to do).
In the midst of this newfound hobby, a few years later in 2022, I encountered a kindred spirit—a fellow runner whose passion mirrored my own. Our paths converged, and we’ve embarked on countless runs together, sharing aspirations, challenges, and triumphs. This friendship blossomed amidst the miles we logged, forming a bond that I now cherish as my best friend, Liz Schafer ❤️ Running turned from an act of support into a source of genuine pleasure and personal growth. It became my therapy, my time to clear my mind, and my way to celebrate the beauty of life. The miles we conquered weren’t just about the distance, but about the shared experiences, the laughter, and the lessons learned on the journey.
Today, as I reflect on this incredible run journey , I am eternally grateful for the friend who set me on this path and my best friend I met along the way. Her impact on my life is immeasurable, and I wouldn’t trade this running journey and the friendship it forged, for anything in the world. You can often find us running together! #solesistersrundisney
Each day, I continue to focus on progress and small victories which help keep me motivated to push further. My goal is to get my 6 star medal one day and keep adding to my thersipo bracelet 😎 For those that have goals and dreams to be a runner , just remember that nothing is impossible!
